Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-30

Beckonly is a product of the Beckah ecosystem.

By using Beckonly, you agree to these terms. They are written plainly because the goal is mutual understanding, not theatre.

Who we are

Beckonly is operated by Beckah Foundation. We run a platform for organizing Muslim-first pickup sports, leagues, and tournaments. We are not a sports league ourselves, and we do not employ players, captains, or organizers — we provide the tools they use to organize themselves.

Account responsibility

  • One account per person. Don't share your login. Don't impersonate someone else.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account — RSVPs, stat events, messages.
  • If you suspect your account is compromised, email safwan@beckah.org immediately.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Harass, insult, or threaten other users.
  • Submit fake stats — recording points or rebounds that didn't happen, or sabotaging an opponent's box score.
  • Impersonate another player, captain, organizer, or admin.
  • Use the platform to organize anything that isn't a sports activity within the spirit of the community (no recruiting for unrelated purposes, no spam).
  • Scrape, abuse, or attempt to disrupt the service.

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these — see "Suspensions" below.

Content ownership

  • You own what you put on your profile — your name, bio, photo, height, weight, etc.
  • You grant Beckonly a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content within the app to other users (your teammates, the players directory, post-game summaries). That's the only purpose. We don't license your content to anyone else.
  • Stat events recorded about your play (points, assists, fouls) are operational data and stay on the platform as part of the integrity of the box score, even if you delete your account (see Privacy Policy).

Sportsmanship and integrity

This is the part where we mean it. The platform only works if people show up, score honestly, and play fair.

  • No-shows: repeated unexplained no-shows after RSVP'ing "going" can result in temporary loss of RSVP privileges. We use signals, not punishment — first offense is a polite reminder, not a strike.
  • Stat integrity: scorekeepers and host designees are trusted to record events honestly. Players caught fabricating their own stats (e.g., adding points after a game ends) may have their lifetime stats reset.
  • Harassment, abusive language, or unsafe conduct — at the gym or in the app — is grounds for immediate suspension.

Score disputes

Game scores and stats are settled in this order:

  1. The designated scorekeeper for the session is the source of truth during play.
  2. Any player can flag a stat as wrong using the in-app undo / dispute flow (available during the game and for 24 hours after).
  3. Captains have the final say on disputed plays within their game.
  4. For escalated disputes (e.g., suspected fabrication), an admin reviews the audit log and decides. Admin decisions are final.

Suspensions

We may suspend or terminate your account for repeated violations of the rules above. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first and explain why. We do not publicly shame anyone — accounts go quiet, not branded.

Assumption of risk & release of liability

Please read this section carefully — you agree to it when you create an account.

Beckonly is only a tool for organizing pickup sports. We do not run, host, supervise, referee, coach, staff, or insure any game. We do not own, inspect, or control the venues where games happen. We do not vet players' health, fitness, or skill. Organizers and players arrange and conduct games entirely on their own.

By creating an account and participating in any game organized through Beckonly, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Sports carry inherent risk. Pickup basketball, soccer, volleyball, and similar activities involve a real and inherent risk of physical injury — including serious injury, and in rare cases death — as well as risk to your personal property. These risks can come from your own actions, the actions of other players, the condition of the venue, or equipment.
  • You participate voluntarily and at your own risk. You are solely responsible for deciding whether you are physically fit and healthy enough to play, for assessing the safety of the venue and conditions before you play, for using appropriate equipment, and for stopping if you feel unwell or unsafe. If you have any doubt about your health, consult a doctor before participating.
  • You are responsible for your own conduct and safety, and for supervising any minor in your care. A parent or guardian is responsible for any participant under 18.
  • You release us. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release and hold harmless Beckonly, Beckah Foundation, and their operators, volunteers, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, injuries, damages, or losses — to you or your property — arising out of or related to any game, venue, or interaction organized or facilitated through the platform, whether or not caused by ordinary negligence.
  • Disputes between participants are between participants. We are not responsible for the conduct of any organizer, captain, scorekeeper, or player, online or in person.

This release does not waive any liability that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Service provided "as is"

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We try hard to keep it working, but downtime happens and data loss is possible (we take it seriously and back things up, but no promises).

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the last 12 months — which is currently $0 for everyone.

Changes to these terms

If we change anything material, we'll bump the "Last updated" date at the top and email registered users. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved by emailing safwan@beckah.org will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
